Common Questions

• My photo was rejected even though I resized it. Why?
  File size is only one of four things a portal checks. The others are the format (it must be JPG, not PNG or HEIC), the pixel dimensions, and the background colour — a dark or patterned background is one of the most common reasons a photo is refused. Use Will this pass?, pick your exam, and FormFit names exactly which of the four is wrong.
• It says my file is “too small”. Isn't smaller better?
  No. Almost every portal sets a minimum size as well as a maximum — SSC wants a signature between 10 KB and 20 KB, so 6 KB is rejected just as firmly as 30 KB. A clean signature can fall below the floor even at full quality, so FormFit pads the file to reach it. The image itself is untouched; only the file size changes.
• My iPhone photo won't upload to the portal at all.
  iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, and no Indian government portal accepts that format — the upload usually fails without explaining why. Use HEIC to JPG, or simply open the photo in any FormFit tool, which converts it automatically.
• The “White background” switch is greyed out.
  Replacing the background uses a feature that requires iOS 17 or newer. On older versions every other tool still works — photograph yourself against a plain white or light wall instead.
• It says it couldn't separate me from the background.
  This happens when the subject isn't clearly distinguishable from what's behind them. A photo taken against a plainer wall, in even light, almost always works. Your resized photo is still perfectly valid — only the background wasn't replaced.
• It says no face was detected.
  Auto-cropping needs a clearly visible, front-facing face in reasonable light. When it can't find one, FormFit still resizes your photo correctly — just use Crop & rotate if the head isn't centred.
• After compressing a PDF I can't select the text any more.
  That's expected. Reaching an exact file size in a PDF means converting each page to an image. The document looks the same and uploads the same, but the text is no longer selectable or searchable. FormFit tells you this before you compress.
• Are the exam requirements up to date?
  They're taken from each body's published notifications, and every requirement shows the date it was last checked. Exam bodies do change these between notifications, and some — RRB especially — vary from one advertisement to the next. Always confirm against the notification PDF for your own exam before you upload. If you spot a number that's out of date, please email us.
• Where does my file go after I save it?
  Save to Photos puts it in your photo library. Share or save to Files opens the iOS share sheet, from which you can save to the Files app, AirDrop it to a computer, or send it to someone else.
• Do I need an internet connection?
  No. Every tool works fully offline. The internet is only used to load ads.
• Do I need an account?
  No. FormFit requires no registration, login, email or payment details.
• Are my photos or documents uploaded anywhere?
  Never. Everything happens on your device, including face detection and background removal. We run no server and cannot see your files.
