Vaani Support
Welcome to the official support page for Vaani — an offline English to Indian regional languages dictionary and phrasebook. We're here to help you have a smooth experience.
Common Questions
- Do I need an internet connection?
No. Every word, phrase, example sentence and transliteration is bundled inside the app. Search, the phrasebook, favourites and pronunciation all work in airplane mode. The internet is only used to load ads. - How do I unlock the other languages?
Hindi is free and available immediately. Each of the other nine languages unlocks permanently after you watch one rewarded ad — tap any language marked “Watch ad” on the Dictionary tab. Once unlocked, it is never gated again on that device. - I watched the ad but the language didn't unlock.
The unlock only happens once the ad finishes and the reward is granted. Closing or skipping an ad early won't unlock anything — just try again. You'll also need a connection at that moment, since the ad itself has to load. - It says the ad isn't ready yet.
The next ad is still caching. Wait a few seconds and tap again. If you're offline, the app will tell you so instead of leaving you on a spinner. - Do I lose my unlocked languages if I reinstall?
Yes. Unlocks and favourites are stored on your device, not on a server, so reinstalling or switching devices resets them. Unlocking again is free — just one ad per language. - The speaker icon is missing or nothing is spoken.
Pronunciation uses the voices built into your device. If a language's voice isn't installed, the speaker icon is hidden. On iOS you can add voices under Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices. - Do I need an account?
No. Vaani requires no registration, login, email or payment details. - I found a wrong or awkward translation.
Please email us the word and language — accuracy is the whole point of a dictionary, and corrections are genuinely welcome.
