Karma Support

Welcome to the official support page for Karma: Daily Reset & Journal — a 30-day journey of one mindful action a day, with the Karma Oracle for the decisions that are harder to call.

Common Questions

  • Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in. Your journey, streaks, journal entries and Oracle history are stored on your iPhone only.
  • Is the app free?
Yes. Karma is free and is funded by advertising.
  • Does the Karma Oracle need an internet connection?
It depends which engine answers, and the app tells you which one did, above and below every reading. On-device runs entirely on supported iPhones with no network at all. Cloud sends the text you typed to Google's Gemini API over an encrypted connection, so it needs a connection. Offline guide uses written responses bundled with the app and never touches the network.
  • I don't want my writing sent anywhere. Can I stop that?
Yes, completely. Go to Karma → You → Karma Oracle → Guidance engine and choose On-device only. The app will then fall back to its built-in offline guide rather than ever contacting the network.
  • The Oracle isn't responding.
If your engine is set to Cloud, check your connection — the reading is generated remotely. Switching to On-device only will always produce an answer, with no network required.
  • Why did the app ask about tracking?
Karma shows ads through Google AdMob, and iOS requires an app to ask before it can use your advertising identifier. Choosing “Ask App Not to Track” is fine — the app works exactly the same, you will simply see less relevant ads.
  • How do I change my ad consent?
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent before personalised ads are served. Change or withdraw it any time under Karma → You → Privacy → Ad privacy settings. To turn off tracking system-wide, use iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Does Karma write to Apple Health?
Only if you allow it. Meditation and breathing practices you complete can be written to Apple Health as mindful minutes, which stays on your device under your control in the Health app. Declining costs you nothing — the practice still counts inside Karma.
  • My next-day task isn't showing.
Daily tasks reset at midnight local time. Check your device's date and time settings and allow Background App Refresh for Karma.
  • How do I delete everything?
Karma → You → Danger zone → Reset journey, or delete the app, which removes all local data. Nothing is held on a server for us to delete on your behalf.

App Features

  • 30-day reset journey — one meaningful, achievable action unlocked every 24 hours, with automatic progress tracking.
  • Karma Oracle — bring a past action or an upcoming dilemma and get a reading, with the answering engine always shown.
  • Several traditions side by side — guidance framed through Hindu, Buddhist, Stoic and secular ethics.
  • Streaks and history — active days, streak and a visual record of the run.
  • Mindful minutes — optional Apple Health integration for the practices you complete.
  • Local by default — no login, and nothing about your journey leaves the device except Oracle text when the Cloud engine is selected.

Troubleshooting

  • The app crashes or will not open.
Make sure you are on the latest version, restart the device, and try again. If it persists, email us with your iPhone model and iOS version.
  • Reminders aren't arriving.
Daily reminders are scheduled locally. Check that notifications are allowed under iOS Settings → Notifications → Karma.
  • Mindful minutes aren't appearing in Health.
Check write access under iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Karma.
