Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Squint: Thumbnail Preview does with your data. The short version: it does not collect any. Squint has no account system, no server, no advertising and no analytics, and every image you open stays on the device you opened it on.

1. Information We Collect

None. We do not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal information. Specifically, Squint does not ask for or receive:

• Your name, email address, phone number or postal address
• An account, username or password — there is no sign-in of any kind
• Your contacts, calendar, location or health data
• A device advertising identifier (IDFA)

2. Your Images and Projects

Thumbnails, competitor images, comparison pairs and saved projects are stored on your device. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party, and we have no server that could receive them. Deleting a project inside the app, or deleting the app itself, removes that data from your device.

3. Photo Library and File Access

Squint asks for access to your photo library or files only so that you can choose an image to preview. The app reads the images you select and nothing else. It does not scan, index or copy the rest of your library, and it never sends a selected image anywhere.

You can review or withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings. On iPhone and iPad this is under Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos; on Mac it is under System Settings → Privacy & Security.

4. On-Device Analysis

Several Squint features analyse your image: the legibility report reads the text in the picture to measure its rendered height and contrast, the attention test estimates which regions a viewer is likely to skip, and the squint and grayscale tests transform the image for display.

All of this runs locally on your device using the operating system's built-in image and text-recognition frameworks. No image, no extracted text and no analysis result is sent off the device, and none of it is retained by us.

5. Purchases

Squint is free to use, with an optional one-time Squint Pro purchase. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or handle your payment card, billing address or Apple Account credentials.

Whether a purchase has been made is verified through Apple's StoreKit framework and stored on your device. Apple's own handling of your transaction is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

6. No Advertising, No Analytics, No Tracking

Squint contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting service. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not build a profile of you. Because the app does not phone home at all, there is no usage data for us to look at.

If you choose to send Apple anonymous diagnostics for all your apps, Apple may share aggregate crash information with us as the developer. That data comes from Apple, is not linked to your identity, and is controlled by your own setting under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

7. Data Sharing

We share nothing, because we hold nothing. There are no third-party data processors, no advertising partners and no data brokers involved in Squint. The only company in the chain is Apple, and only for delivering the app and processing a purchase.

8. Exports

When you export a comparison as a PNG or PDF, the file is created on your device and saved or shared wherever you choose. If you then send it somewhere — a message, an email, a cloud drive — that destination's own privacy policy applies to it. Squint has no involvement once the file leaves the app.

9. Children's Privacy

Squint is a tool for people making thumbnails and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including minors.

10. Your Rights

Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return or erase. All of your Squint data lives on your device and is fully under your control — delete a project, or delete the app, and it is gone.

11. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
